Council Roundup August 5th, 2024 Newberg City Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday August 6th 2024 and the following transpired: Resolution 2024-3944 was adopted approving the Supplemental Budget #1 for fiscal year 2024-2025 The following were approved unanimously by council Adoption of resolution 2024-3937 redesignating the Newberg Enterprise Zone Adoption of resolution 2024-3943 waiving the employment requirement on standard tax exemption for A.R.E manufacturing Inc. Approving resolution 2024-3945 authorizing crack and slurry seal repairs on Second Street To pause on the enforcement of tree replacement code while staff investigates A motion to agree to keep the original vote of the 901 S. McKern Court Water Hardship Exemption was voted in at 6 to 1 A split vote of 4 to 3 declining the motion to keep the original plan of waiving 50% of the SDCs that was discussed and voted upon at the July 3rd meeting. Another 6 to 1 vote approving staff to look into a third option “c” for a 1.9% rate increase without a 7-year contract with waste management and come back with information for the next meeting on August 19th 2024. Council discussed the Butler Property and directed staff to investigate alternate options to market the property to a broader audience
