Subject:  Santosh Landfill, ECSI # 1383; Nov. 8, 2006 site visit notes

I visited the Santosh Landfill on Wednesday, November 8, 2006 to inspect for leachate seeps in light of heavy rain over the past few weeks. Water was more than 2 feet deep in the area just south of the landfill. I was not able to get to the southern seep. There was some ponding on the landfill surface but not as much as has been observed during some previous site visits. I tried to inspect for seeps along the east side of the landfill, along Hogan Ranch Road. I did not see any, but recent growth of blackberries prevent a good look. I was unable to inspect in more detail because of time limits. I called Hart Crowser and requested that they collect a sample from the southern leachate seep. I also asked that they conduct a more thorough visual inspection of the landfill for the presence of other seeps.
