DEQ reviewed the ““2009 Groundwater Monitoring Program, NW Natural - Gasco Facility, 7900 NW St. Helens Road, Portland, Oregon,” dated March 25, 2009 (Monitoring Program). Our comments letter is attached.

A signed hard copy of the letter will be sent to you via regular mail this week.

DEQ approves the Monitoring Program with the following conditions.

·  Before the sampling frequency of selected monitoring wells can be reduced from quarterly to semiannually, NW Natural should provide the technical basis for the reduction; and

·  The groundwater sampling and analytical program should be modified by replacing analysis of “amenable” cyanide with the “weak acid dissociable” and “available” cyanide methods.

DEQ appreciates NW Natural’s continued work to evaluate groundwater conditions on the NW Natural and Siltronic properties. Feel free to contact me with questions regarding this e-mail and/or the attachment.
