OK. Let me know how the replacement work is going and when you expect to resume extraction.

Mavis, yes most definitely we would recapture the plume once extraction pumping at the two wells resumed.

If there is some loss of plume control, would you expect to recapture that once extraction resumes?

Mavis, extraction at these two wells is very important for hydraulic control of the plume and we are extremely interested in getting these back on line as soon as possible. While we are waiting for parts to arrive, we will continue to pump from nearby TGA extraction wells such as E-12, E-13, and E-14. Wells E-2 and E-3 are located towards the downgradient edge of the vegetable oil injection area and recent analytical results from the May and September sampling events indicate concentrations in the injection area remain low with TCE concentrations between non-detect at the reporting limit to 86 ug/L, compared to pre-injection concentrations ranging from 4 to 1,100 ug/L.

We are working with the vendors to repair the pumps as fast as possible.

Could you just give me a little explanation of why this shutdown will not affect overall control of the contamination plume (making the assumption here that this is the case)? Thanks.

Hello Mavis,

We have determined the problem for both wells and are waiting for replacement parts-both wells remain shutdown. The motor on E-3 was burned out and needs to be replaced, we estimate 1 week in part shipment. The pump at E-2 failed and needs replacement. The pump is large and needs to be built (not an over the shelf item), currently we estimate 2 weeks for part shipment.

Thank you,

Have you determined what the problem is yet? Have the wells been returned to operation? Thanks.

Hello Mavis,

We are experiencing some mechanical issues with three TGA extraction wells which are located in series. As of yesterday the following wells are shutdown: E-2, E-3, and E-12, located downgradient of the injection project. We have been running diagnostic checks and have arranged for the pumps to be pulled and examined on Monday. We will provide you with an update as to when the wells will resume operation.

Thank you,

Chris
