Newberg City Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday October 21st, 2024 via hybrid meeting and the following transpired: Council moved to have staff move forward with the design and repair of River st. Council passed resolution 3950, updating the committee appointment process to not require interviews of candidates. Council passed resolution 3952 authorizing the Community Development Department to submit a request to the Department of Land Conservation and Development to dissolve the Newberg Sequential Urban Growth Boundary Review work program and move the City of Newberg’s Housing Capacity Analysis and Housing Production Strategy deadlines to the 2027/2028 cycle of the Department of Land Conservation and Development’s Housing Capacity Analysis-Housing Production Strategy Schedule for 2024-2032 Council made a motion to have staff send a letter to all properties in the Urban Renewal Area or abutting City Limits to determine interest in annexation before effort is expended by staff in this effort Mayor Bill Rosacker brought forth an item in New Business regarding the sign placed on the JT Smith property. Council made a motion to direct staff to indicate to JT Smith that the city is willing to enter negotiations with JT Smith after they drop the federal lawsuit.
