Council Roundup 09/03/2024
Newberg City Council met for their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday September 3rd, 2024, and the following transpired:
1. Passed Resolution 2024-3949 concerning the Water Hardship Exemption for the property located at 901 S. McKern court.
2. Waived the 2nd reading and adopted Ordinance 2024-2928 amending Title 15 Development Code related to daycare facilities.
3. Waived the 2nd reading and adopted Ordinance 2024-2929 an amendment allowing minor freestanding signs in the public right of way and eliminating the time limit for lots outside of C3 and C4 zones by title only.
4. Waived the 2nd reading and adopted Ordinance 2024-2927 amending Newberg’s Municipal Code related to discarded and stored vehicles on public property by title only.
5. Move to approve the appeal which adopts City Council Order 2024-0046 and approve the conditional use permit previously recommended by staff authorizing the operation
of a Vacation Rental Home at 215 N School Street.
6. Council turned down the request for the city to hold a debate forum for the upcoming council election, stating it is better held outside of city control.
7. Council discussed the possibility of starting an ad-hoc committee putting marketing focus on Newberg’s wine region. The discussion concluded with representatives from council would meet with Taste Newberg Employees and build a roadmap/plan to achieve this outcome.
