Good afternoon team,

I know that many of you have been concerned about the issue of vaccination mandates, mandates that we have been expecting from the federal government. While my number one concern is to keep you all safe at work, I have been updated from our hardworking HR team that the feds are (at least for now) backing away from an enforced action. As Karen T reported to me today:

“Yesterday, November 16, the Federal OSHA announced that it is suspending all implementation and enforcement efforts related to the Emergency Temporary Standard (ETS) mandating vaccination or weekly COVID-19 testing in the workplace. There are multiple suits filed against the mandate will be combined and heard by the Sixth Circuit in the coming weeks. Oregon OSHA has not issued any new enforcement guidance related to the Federal ETS”.

I wanted to speak to you quickly and directly with the news that the City of Newberg will not be proceeding with any Vaccination policy at this time. Naturally if the Federal Government or the State of Oregon should issue rules and guidance later the city will contact you as appropriate, and that means I will contact you directly also.

Now let us not forget that:

As I have said in the past, I care about keeping everyone safe, happily and productively hard at work to help out residents have better lives. That is the bottom line.

Respectfully,

Will Worthey
