Hi Dan,

Here is an update on the project. Note that the final numbers wont be in until close of the project. We started out with a $2M temporary pathway and it has ballooned to a $3M temporary pathway. The staff at ODOT are stuck operating in a broken bureaucracy that, in my opinion, is designed to waste public money. I cant blame them. That is the hand they are dealt and the federal system is broken too. My recommendation is that we don’t apply for federal money in the future for these kinds of projects and instead spend our SDC’s on the City system. I could have designed and constructed a more permanent solution with the City funds if it was our roadway without all of the red tape and waste.

Hi Reem,

I took the rest of the folks out for this part of the tracking. We went back through our account and match your number of $180,358.50. We just sent ODOT a check in the amount of $140,000 and will process another in the amount of $305,692 brining the total City contribution to $626,050.50. Total project funding appears to be as follows:

Federal MTEP Grant Funds $1,683,979.33

State Funds $ 750,000.00

City Funds $ 626,050.50

Total $3,060,029.83

Original Funding Estimate $1,947,022.00

Difference $1,113,007.83

I understand we wont know the final costs until the end of the project but I want to make sure I’m tracking what you are based on funds available versus original project estimate (Fed Grant). Are we still on track for bidding this next month? Thanks.
