We are trying to provide services to our communities, our staff and consultants are isolated and working remotely to keep things moving, and access to training is difficult to impossible unless we want to pay high prices. All of us are licensed engineer’s and I don’t believe missing conferences and trainings for one year will collapse the engineering industry or somehow create an insurmountable knowledge gap for individuals. Thanks for your help and stay safe. We apologize for the inconvenience registrants are facing as a result of the ongoing situation surrounding the COVID-19. At this time, the OSBEELS is still requiring registrants to provide proof of completion of 30 PDHs as part of their application for renewal. We understand due to the COVID-19 some educational conferences or activities may be postponed past the June 30 deadline, or cancelled all-together, causing a hardship. There are other, acceptable options for earning your PDHs, such as qualifying web-based or videotaped courses. There are a number of other options identified in Oregon Administrative Rule (OAR) 820-010-0635. If you have any questions whether an activity qualifies for continuing education, we encourage you to reach out to the Board at OSBEELS.info@oregon.gov. <image001.png> Eric Engelson Communications Coordinator 503-934-2117 670 Hawthorne Ave. SE Suite 220 Salem OR 97301 From: Gerald Fisher <gfisher@cityofmolalla.com> Sent: Wednesday, March 18, 2020 2:45 PM To: ENGELSON Eric * OSBEELS <Eric.ENGELSON@oregon.gov> Cc: OSBEELS Info * OSBEELS <OSBEELS.Info@oregon.gov> Subject: OSBEELS position on PDH requirements and COVID-19 Hi Eric, With the cancellation of APWA and other conferences that allow for earning of professional development hours, is the board considering a reduction or elimination of required hours for 2020? The shutdown is having an impact our engineer’s ability to earn necessary credits. Thanks and let me know when you have an update.
