Subject: Leroy intersection

Dan and Gerald, I had a meeting yesterday with ODOT specifically to address the Leroy intersection.

They have agreed to schedule a meeting with the two of you to talk further about the intersection. I suggested that they hear from you about future development in that area and see if there is an opportunity to get ahead of the curve with signalization.

I think they are willing to consider approving installing the signal vault and doing some other things in anticipation of signalization when the development occurs. Perhaps even more. One thing that was mentioned is that the city’s consultant also said the signal isn’t warranted at this time. They also are apparently waiting on some data from the City.

Finally, I planted a seed about moving Molalla into Region 2 and offered to assist in that effort if they think it would be helpful. They seemed interested in the idea. I approached it from the standpoint of Region 1 workload.

My suggestion is for the 2 of you to meet with ODOT when they contact you (which should be within the next few weeks). Lindsey Baker may be the contact person, not sure. You might get further with them without politicians at this point, but that’s your call.

Let me know how it goes. By the way, the sidewalk improvements with the $750k from the Transportation package are on track for the spring and the speed reduction to 30 on 213 will be from the north to the south city limits.

Best wishes;

Rep Lewis
