The Newberg City Council met on June 15, 2020. The Council took the following actions: Observed 8:46 moment of silence for the passing of George Floyd. ● Approved Resolutions: 2020-3678, Cedar Mill Construction Company LLC contract for PSB roof work –seismic retrofit. 2020-3664, Murray Smith contract for North College Street Waterline work. 2020-3655, Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce contract for Visitor Center services. 2020-3682, Initiation of Comp Plan amendment for Riverfront Master Plan. 2020-3679, Endorsement of Newberg Committee for Public Art. 2020-3681, Elliott Road right of way acquisition for road improvements. 2020-3670, Denial of request for release of easement on Springbrook Road. 2020-3680, Letter of support for Oregon Workers Relief Fund. ● Approved Ordinance 2020-2862, Yamhill County Transit Area Plan amendments. In other business, Councilor Patrick Johnson resigned from his District 4 seat. Heard from citizens on police policy manual changes, recommendation for a Police oversight committee, discrimination by the Police Department during traffic stops, right-of-way acquisition for Elliott Road improvements, and received comments on water credit complaint, support for the Police Department, School Resource Officer, and recent protests. Heard presentations on Economic Opportunities Analysis, and Yamhill Community Action Partnership. Heard activity report from City Manager.
