The Newberg City Council met on July 1, 2019. The Council took the following actions: •Approved 2019-3579, Appointment of David Clyne as City Manager Pro Tem effective July 22, 2019. Mr. Clyne is the former city manager at the City of Independence, and has 40 years of municipal government experience. •Approved several resolutions: 2019-3576, K&E Paving Inc. contract award for 2019 paving rehabilitation work. 2019-3573, Visit Newberg Business Plan and Budget. 2019-3572, Extension of Street Seat Program until August 2021. 2019-3575, Mid Willamette Valley Council of Governments loan services for economic fund. •Proclaimed July 25-28, 2019 as Newberg Old Fashioned Festival Week. •Approved several Council appointments, including: Bill Rourke & Ned Knight - to the Citizens Rate Review Commission. Mayor Rogers, Councilors Curtis Gemeroy, and Johnson to a Water Redundancy Council Subcommittee. Extended term of WestRock Council Subcommittee and provided direction as to authority and purpose. In other business, Heard presentation on Sidewalks, and discussed options. Heard from citizens about needs to repair, replace, and build sidewalks, and concerns about accessibility throughout the City. Heard from citizens on the cost of permitting fees, and customer service at City Hall. Discussed Requests for Proposals for the City Manager Recruitment. Discussed cell phones for City Councilors. Fleard activity report from City Manager. Discussed Council committee and community activities. Met in Executive Session on Employment of a Public Officer
