The Newberg City Council met on May 6th, 2019 . The Council took the following actions: •Approved several resolutions: 2019-3547 - contract award to Kittleson & Associates for Elliott Road project. 2019-3551 - contract award to The Saunders Company, Inc. for 2nd, 3rd, and 6th wastewater construction. 2019-3557 - contract award to Lawson Corp. for GFU fireflow waterline improvement project. 2019-3553 - contract award to Boldt, Carlisle, and Smith LLC for audit services. •Directed staff to create a letter of support for House Bill 2509 - statewide ban on plastic bags. •Proclaimed May as National History month. •Proclaimed May 5,h- l 1th as Municipal Clerks Week. In other business, Accepted letter of retirement from City Manager Joe Hannan effective September 1, 2019. Discussed meeting dates for goal setting in July. Heard presentations on Employee Handbook, Newberg 2030 project, Chehalem Valley Chamber of Commerce, Design Stars middle school students on their ideas for affordable housing projects, Heard from citizens asking the Council to support House Bill 2509. Heard activity report from City Manager. Discussed Council committee and community activities.
