Hi Gerald,

PGE’s customer prices are adjusted each January to reflect wholesale power and fuel cost projections for the coming year, typically netted against several smaller charges and credits. We manage our costs carefully to deliver clean, reliable electricity to our customers at a fair price, with the goal of maintaining price stability and minimizing increases whenever possible.

With that in mind, I want to let you know that effective January 1, 2021 increased costs for wholesale power contracts, market purchases, natural gas and power transmission that are essential to reliable electric service are the primary drivers behind the expected overall price increase. Also reflected in this change is the end of a credit customers were receiving related to federal tax reform in 2018, plus costs and benefits from the addition of the Wheatridge Renewable Energy Facility in Morrow County, which came online earlier this month. A final order from the Oregon Public Utility Commission is expected before Dec. 31 to set prices for the new year. It’s important to note that the wholesale power trading event PGE announced in August is not a factor in the price increase.

Your rate schedule and the average increase you can expect to see are listed below. As always, the impact on your monthly electric bill will vary depending on your usage.
