Subject: RE: Transfer Pump
Importance: Normal
Attachments: Est_3326_from_Triangle_Pump__Equipment_Inc._7456.pdf; image001.png; Tyesha, I’ve submitted the Claim for the transfer pump, I estimated final repairs will be $55,000, materials quote attached. I had to take the time to ensure all my information was accurate and certain. The power outage was between 6:30pm and 9:30pm on May 11th, not the 23rd as I’d originally stated. The verbiage in the claim is as follows: On the evening of May 11th at 6:00pm power to areas of the City of Molalla was lost, and restored at 9:23 PM per our mission controls located at each lift station. City of Molalla Wastewater Treatment Plant staff received an automated alarm signal indicating power from PGE had gone off line. Upon power being restored by PGE, Molalla Wastewater Plant Operators found that only two of our three 115hp Sewerage Transfer Pumps were able to restart. Molalla’s on-call electrician isolated the motor and performed a megger test of the winding insulation. The result was a “dead short” (windings to ground), meaning the motor needs replacement. This motor was just replaced with new windings in 2019 and was essentially new. These three motors are the most important piece of equipment at the Molalla Wastewater Treatment Plant. Failure of these motors will result in overtopping of the influent aeration basin and raw sewerage discharge to Bear Creek. The cost to replace this motor is estimated at $55,000, which includes $43,677 in materials (quote attached), $3000 in shipping, and $8323 for installation and electrical work. The City of Molalla requests an Insurance Claim Number from PGE’s Insurance Provider to track this issue. Our Insurance Company contact is CIS through Scott Gustafson, 503-266-2216.
