Andy

I spoke with Adam to narrow down the date of the power bump. Power was lost on May 11th, at 6:00 PM and restored at 9:23PM per our mission controls located at each lift station . Also the Size of the transfer pump 110Hp submersible pump.

Subject: FW: Transfer Pump

Folks, could you review and confirm the facts in this verbiage, which we’ll be submitting to PGE as an insurance claim in the coming days? Jake, especially, do I have the date right, and are there any timeframes I can add to help them narrow down the bump?

On the evening of 5/23/20 City of Molalla Wastewater Treatment Plant staff received an automated alarm signal indicating power from PGE had gone off line. Upon arriving at the plant it was discovered that PGE power had been restored, but that only two of our three 15hp Sewerage Transfer Pumps were able to restart. Molalla’s on-call electrician isolated the motor and performed a megger test of the winding insulation. The result was a “dead short” (windings to ground), meaning the motor needs replacement.

These three motors are the most important piece of equipment at the Molalla Wastewater Treatment Plant. Failure of these motors will result in overtopping of the influent aeration basin and raw sewerage discharge to Bear Creek. The cost to replace this motor is estimated at $55,000, which includes $43,677 in materials (quote attached), $3000 in shipping, and $8323 for installation and electrical work.

The City of Molalla requests an Insurance Claim Number from PGE’s Insurance Provider to track this issue.

Respectfully,

Andy Peters

Hi Andy,

Thank you for reaching out. I was not able to confirm any outages in my records impacting your connected feeders during that time. However, that does not mean a more thorough review will not be completed by our Distribution Engineering team related to your claim. I have however, given our Liability Claims team a heads up of your plans to file. I wanted to make sure they were aware before I went on PTO last Friday. I’ll be sure to keep my eyes on the claim once you turn it in.

Thanks.

Thank you Tyesha. Were you able to confirm PGE showed an outage in their records during that weekend, or are they not able to tell? 5/23 or 5/24.

Andy

Hi Andy,

My apologies for the delay of my response. Thank you for sending the information. Here is the PGE link to file a damage claim. It is https://portlandgeneral.com/search-results?q=file+a+claim. Let me know once you file the claim. I want to make sure I can track its status. Feel free to review and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks.

Tyesha, I received a quote for the replacement of our Transfer Pump at the Wastewater Treatment Plant: $43,667. I would like to open a claim for this as discussed, and supply my documentation to PGE.

Hope you are staying safe and healthy!

Andy Peters
