PGE Partners,

A quick note about Monday’s eclipse--

Some have expressed curiosity about how the eclipse will affect PGE, and their power service, specifically.

Short answer: it shouldn’t. Meaning that we don’t expect the eclipse itself could create any power anomalies.

As of today, Monday’s forecast is clear skies, 83°F with 0 precip. Perfect conditions for viewing the eclipse (safely, with appropriate eyewear!).

The only consideration PGE has for 8/21 is the anticipated traffic: ODOT predicts an extra 1 MILLION vehicles on state and county roads next weekend—especially around Salem. Which means that efforts to assist any of our customers could be hampered simply by our ability to get there. The eclipse itself will only last an hour, but the traffic is expected to increase Sat morning thru Tues night.

Our only ask is that you take the necessary precautions for your families and your facilities during the bad traffic. And try to enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime event!

Be safe!
