Need to change the wood to 2x6 so that you get a 6” mat. Remember to tell them to set the board ½” off the ground. They will need to do some finish grading of the rock so that there is 6” continuous throughout the mat. Form boards and string lines to check depth.

Okay Gerald, this is launched! I know I could figure this out and just hold their hands through it, but if I let go of my control issues for a bit, they have some great opportunity to learn here... so I will hang back and just be a resource for them *bites lip* It’s a good idea.

NEW WO#9829 [Utility_Crew]: requested by apeters. Promise Date: 4/9/2020 12:00:00 AM

CONCRETE PAD POUR

We would like to pour a pad in the North bay of the long pole barn (where the generator is parked), wich follows the detail R-1095 "commercial driveway". The detail calles for #4 rebar 1ft on center, but we can use 18" center (because it is a flat surface, there will be no kinetic loading as trucks drive-up). As shown on the detail, the rebar goes in the bottom 2 inches of the concrete. You suspend the rebar on concrete "dobies" that have a wiretie on them. The reason you put the rebar at the bottom is that concrete is bad in tension, good in compression, and a wheel load puts the top surface of the pad into compression, but the bottom surface into tension. So, rebar. We'll set the forms so the pad slopes down toward the east. I measure 29ft x 19.5ft. The slope should be 1.5% (which means 3/16th inches per foot) on the bubble.

I am happy to help with any aspect of planning or constructing this. However, it's very low risk and do not wish to take the opportunity for planning from anyone that would like to try it. For assignments, or to volunteer for an aspect, see Adam. The first thing we need is a graph paper sketch of the rebar and a dobe count, so we can make an order from Whithers. The minimum order qty for a concrete truck from Knife River is 3yards. We'll need about 10.5 yards (check that math!), and we'll ask for 4000 psi mix. Forms should all be 2x4 wood, nothing smaller. We suggest using double headed nails so we can pull the forms easily, and spraying the boards with deisel before pouring will make the forms slide off easily.
