Rod,

That monitor will not be useable with the new setup. It’s designed for a traditional closed circuit system.

We’re a few weeks out on anything with the new camera setup. I agree on not wasting resources on buying something that won’t be used going forward, but don’t know the comfort level with not having that for viewing during the interim.

That’s kind of your call on cost vs. benefit of replacement or if you have something you can repurpose for that as a temporary solution. I’m probably not much help for you there, but at least I can tell you we won’t use that monitor.

Subject: VIDEO SYSTEM

Hi Lance,

Our monitor just inside our back door of the squad room went dark and started making a squealing noise over the weekend, so officers unplugged it. I just turned it back on with the same results, so I think the monitor is toast. The problem is it is the old tube type monitor hooked to coax, so I don’t know if the new system will re-use this same technology for these fixed monitors, or if will need to change. If it will stay the same here, we can just buy another monitor but we’ll have to change the mounting bracket. If the technology needs to change, then we would be wasting time and money to replace this monitor. That said, we now cannot monitor outside our door and have to exit the building blind, which is not a good feeling in light of the recent ambushes on police officers.

Let me know what you’re thinking please.

Rod
