Hello City EMs,

Due to significant wildfire risk coupled with a strong easterly wind forecast (see NWS Weather Bulletin attached) PGE is considering a public safety power shut-off along the Highway 26 corridor approaching Mount Hood. If the shut-off occurs it will most likely begin in the late evening today, Monday, and will continue until it is safe to turn the grid back on. That means homes, businesses, etc. from Mount Hood down to the Sandy area will not have power during this time. (This does not include the City of Sandy).

In preparation, CCDM staff have been working with PGE to ensure that the residents in the area impacted are notified. In addition, PGE is working with Hoodland Fire, Sandy Fire, City of Sandy, Oregon Trails School District, water providers, state agencies and many others to ensure that information is getting to residents and businesses regarding the possible shut-off. CCDM sent out a Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA) yesterday around 6 pm to alert residents and visitors.

For more details and a shape map of the impacted area go to PGE’s website at:

The weather bulletin attached is regarding the high winds and dry weather over the next few days. Please go to www.weather.gov/portland to keep up on this situation.

Take care and be safe.
