City EMs,

Please see below for information on a Listening Session about internet access/connectivity. If you did not see, Clackamas County Technology Services is working with school districts to provide hotspots across the county. Here is the press release.

I was able to put together the attached spreadsheet of current wifi locations provided by multiple organizations across the county. If you know of others missing from this list please let me know.

This list has been very helpful to our liaisons who are helping people apply for jobs and benefits.

Thank you,

Jamie Poole

Internet access/connectivity topic of Thursday Listening Session

Clackamas County Commissioners will continue with their digital listening session series this coming Thursday, May 7, from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., to hear about community concerns about coronavirus impacts.

The sessions have proven popular. The topic for this coming Thursday’s session is:

Internet access/connectivity

Self-isolation practices during the ongoing pandemic have cast a national and local light on the "digital divide" -- the gap between those who have ready access to computers and the Internet, and those who do not. This is particularly true for members of the public who primarily access the Internet at their workplace, children home from school, and individuals in rural areas.

The Board of County Commissioners needs to know about the public's issues around internet connectivity. What are the challenges? What have been the ramifications?

Guests

Chair Jim Bernard

Commissioner Ken Humberston

Since closing most county buildings to the public, the Board of County Commissioners has held several listening sessions and a Town Hall (https://www.clackamas.us/bcc/listening-sessions) in order to hear the public give opinions, relay personal experiences, and state their hopes/worries about the pandemic’s short-term and long-term effects. The board’s weekly Business Meetings (https://www.clackamas.us/meetings/bcc/business) are also being held digitally.
