Subject: FW: Stowers - Storm and Subgrade Issues

Hi Curtis,

I hope you enjoyed your time off.

Can you send me a price to replace the existing concrete storm pipe with 10” ductile iron as shown on the attached map. The pipe is very shallow and partially in the subgrade. It shouldn’t take a lot of efforts to do.

Fabric over the subgrade where directed by the City will be paid at the price of $1.20 as per your February 11th (10:09 am),e-mail.

Jennifer, we need to quantify the subgrade stabilization, it is 88/CY to include excavation, material disposal, fabric and rock replacement.

Subject: Stowers - Storm and Subgrade Issues

Hi Hassan,

Quick update on Stowers:

I decided to replace the storm line with 10” Ductile Iron. I do not want to take the risk of the line shattering under compaction with the vibratory roller with less than a foot of cover. A change order will need to be requested for the cost. I’m not 100% sold that it needs to be the entire length, but certainly to catch basin mid-way. See attached.

I also watch the proof-roll. I saw rutting but no sign of the ground pumping. I requested fabric be placed for separation between the subgrade and rock. This will be an added cost by the unit price as submitted by Curtis for Stowers.

The curb line should be over excavated at least 1-foot to the storm drain. It sound like the $88/sy includes the excavation and additional rock placed back. Does this seem reasonable if the cost of rock is included with the over-excavation for stabilization?

Feel free to give me a call on Monday.
