Hi Curtis,

The project was not a complete 3” grind, there was a 2” – 6’ wide grind on the shoulders with and 3” grind on the remaining center of roadway.

Heintz St. – within the project limits shown on Sheets C10-C12,

· 2”- 6’ wide at edge of roadway

· 3” – Varies 24-25’ center of roadway

Grange Ave. – within the project limits shown on Sheets C8-C10,

· 2”- 6’ wide at edge of roadway

· 3” – Varies 30-31’wide center of roadway

I also verified the original S.Y. cost for Bid Item A-8. When you run the numbers it comes to $3.45/s.y. Can you please provide a justification as to why there is an increase of $0.85/s.y. between the two. Typically with an increase in quantities the unit price decreases.

I also ask that you take in account the City’s decision to change to grind saved several workings days. As calculated, the project must have reach substantial completion on 04/30. The request I received from you was on May 1, 2015. Even if additional days were to be granted for the previously planned added pavement repair I don’t see how the work could have been completed on time.

Please also show all bid items such as; A-8 and B-11 deleted and show a credit.

Importance: High

Hi Hassan,

Dan and I went out to Heintz today looking at the planned dig-outs. The actual pavement failure well exceeds the planned dig-outs and extends from N Molalla to Grange. Our proposal is to do the following:

1. Prep trenches

2. Continue to grind 2” at curb line for 6 ft

3. Grind center roadway 3” for 28 ft

4. Place fabric for separation with in the 28 ft

5. Pave back 3” of PG 64-22, Level 3

6. Overlay 2” as planned

I believe this will save time and cost, and produced a better product for the City.
