Mayor Rogge,

I have voiced my complaints to the director of the water utility and have not got satisfaction so I am writing to you.

I mistakenly paid my water bill twice and it caused me to overdraw my account. It took over 2 weeks for them to return a part of what I paid.

Moreover they sent me a form requesting such confidential information as my social security number, my drivers license number and my place of employment to add to my file. A utility company does not need this kind of information. It opens up opportunities for identity theft. I do not feel comfortable knowing that such information is stored on their computers or in their files. I would not think the city would want to be liable for such a potential situation unless it were necessary.

They have threatened to turn my water off if I do not provide this information.

Please do what you can to get the water utility department to cease this intrusive and overbearing behavior. They do not need my social security number or my drivers license number. They know where I live, and they have my name. I have paid my bills late but I always pay. There is no excuse.
