Hi Emmely,
Sounds like something we could be able to fit in. Do you have a date and time in mind?
Also, Jon Patrick is our wastewater treatment manager for the City. He would have a lot more insight to the questions below. I will see if he is also available to attend.

Dear Jennifer and Garrett,
I teach chemistry at Molalla High School, and I would like to invite a guest speaker from public works to visit our classroom to talk to students about their career in wastewater management. Our upcoming unit of study is about techniques for the physical separation of mixtures. The students participate in a scenario in which there has been a “spill,” and they must devise a method to separate a mixture sand, salt, sawdust, and iron filings.
This year, I want to include a career component, so our students may see how these skills may be applied on the job and how they relate to our community. I am particularly interested in them hearing about 1) steps taken to gain careers in wastewater management, and 2) methods used to separate solids from and how to treat wastewater so it is safe again.
Are you available or do you know someone who works for or contracts with the city who might be able to come speak to my class sometime in the next 4 weeks? I imagine their presentation would be for about 20 minutes with about 10 minutes for questions.
Thank you very much for your consideration.
