Because the City is Public Agency, the payment must be made in full to proceed.

Can we pay 50% up front and 50% after completion like we do with most all of our small subcontractors in construction ?

Carlo,

I had asked in my last email below how you would like to proceed? To be more specific, construct the planned 12-foot wide approach? Or submit a check to the City for $300.00 for the widened 24-foot wide approach? The City will need to have a cleared payment no later than March 13th on Friday to proceed with the 24-foot wide approach to cover the 50% share of the work.

The City is working daily (M-Fr) on the Stowers Road project. I expect the contractor to begin early next week on the curbs. At what exact location, I do not have that information at this time.

Hi Carlo,

Here is the estimation of the cost for your approach.

Assumptions: 24 ft approach x 5 ft wide.

4” Concrete Sidewalk or Driveway incl. excavation and 2” leveling rock: $45/sq. yd.

24’ x 5’ = 120 s.f./9 s.f./s.y. = 13.33 s.y. x $45/s.y. = ~$600.00

50% of $600 = $300.00 shared cost of the approach.

Please let the City know how you would like to proceed?

I would like to get exact cost for my budget , as you know an approximate cost can double very quickly as unforeseen's always seen to happen . It will be very nice to have a wider driveway , we have been driving over the curb way too long .

Thanks Carlo Zeppetella

Hi Carlo,

I’m am writing in response to your questions presented to Nicholas.

(1) The contractor has a general schedule of the work on Stowers. However, the schedule is not detailed in the daily location of work. The contractor has begun excavating the watermain on Stowers this week working from the north to south end. Up to this point the utility companies have been on site making adjustments. The waterline work will continue until complete, followed by water service connections, pavement removal, sidewalk and curb and then paving. I would expect intermittent delays throughout the project for up to 20 minutes at a time. You may speak to the contractor directly if there is a specific time you need your driveway access free, and they will accommodate you to the best of their ability. Given there are no unexpected challenges or weather delays, the project is scheduled to be complete near the end of April.

(2) Attached is a letter that was mailed to your address on or near February 13th. By request, the City is willing to reconstruct your driveway provided that 50% of the cost is paid in advanced. The maximum driveway width allowed for a single car garage is 24-ft. For a 24-ft wide access the shared cost at 50% is approximately $300.00. Please let Nicholas or myself know how you would like to proceed by Friday, March 6, 2015.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Cline, P.E.
