Importance: Normal
Attachments: image001.png; Here are my changes J Thank you The City of Molalla is completing a project marking each of its storm drains around town with drain markers, as depicted in the photo, to alert the public that their intended use is for rain water only. Per Molalla Municipal Code "any matter other than unpolluted runoff or storm drainage" is considered prohibited discharge. (MMC 13.08.840 Discharges into storm drains, Ord. 2007-07 §1; Ord. 1987-6 §l) The majority of Molalla's storm drains flow directly into natural drainage ways, creeks or wetlands without settlement in detention ponds or other filtering systems. Any pollutants such as paint, motor oil, antifreeze, non-biodegradable carwash soaps and pesticides that make their way into these drains are discharged into the ecosystem, threatening fish, wildlife, and drinking water supply downstream. We ask each of our citizens to manage spills and discharges in accordance with the city's rules. Please do your part to keep our waterways safe and clean. For more information about this project please contact Public Works: 503-829-6855 or dpw@cityofmolalla.com Jennifer Cline, P.E. | Public Works Director Licensed in OR, WA 117 N Molalla Ave. | PO Box 248 * |Molalla, OR 97038 O: 503.759.0218 | F: 503.829.3676 From: Dan Zinder [mailto:dzinder@cityofmolalla.com] Sent: Monday, April 11, 2016 11:46 AM To: Jennifer Cline <jcline@cityofmolalla.com> Subject: RE: Storm Drain Marker Project Here’s what I got The City of Molalla is in the process of marking each of its storm drains around town with drain markers, as depicted in the photo to the right, that alert the public that their intended use is for rainwater only. Additionally, we proposed to include a reference to the MMC on what is prohibited for disposal in the storm inlets and waterways, see attached .pdf. Will you please type up a public notification for storm drains in accordance with the MMC, including the attached photos, and send it to me for review. I’m planning to submit the report by the end of April.
