Hi Tim,
This was a challenge in the field to address the inconsistent grade of the parking lot in comparison to a consistent profile of the roadway, which led to a “field fit” scenario. If the City grinds the curb flush it removes the curb exposure on the back side and allows cars the capability to drive onto the sidewalk, which creates another pedestrian safety issue.
So I’m assuming the patron tripped because they were walking across the sidewalk into the parking lot, which is really not the function of the sidewalk. Regardless we cannot control the public so I really only see two solutions.
· Paint it yellow when the crew begins to paint intersection curbing.
· Or grind it flush and the church installs parking stall headers to protect pedestrians
Let me know your thoughts.

Good afternoon Jennifer,
I wanted to reach out and let you know how great the front of the property on Grange looks with the new paved road and sidewalk! I do however, need some help. It was brought to my attention that there is an area of the sidewalk nearest one of the parking lot entries that looks much differently than the rest of the completed project. Last Sunday we had a person from our church trip over what looks to be a curb off of the sidewalk. It is a little difficult to explain and I attached some pictures for review. Given there may be a hazard for falls I was wondering if someone on your team would have time to come by and look at this with us to determine how to prevent tripping or perhaps, fix the issue? I am here Monday-Thursday and am very flexible. If you would contact me regarding the concern that would be greatly appreciated. Again, Thank you for the beautification of Grange.
Sincerely,
