Hi Jennifer,

As mentioned, I wasn’t sure what type of instrument was being used to detect level. The quote from Correct Equipment is for an ultrasonic level transmitter (Pulsar Ultra 3) and transducer (dB10) with 30 ft cable. It’s not a submerged level transmitter that senses hydrostatic pressure and requires a breather tube in the cable for atmospheric reference. I was thinking your current sensor might be a submerged level transmitter because that’s what appears to be shown on the attached photo of the SCADA screen for the Transfer Pump Station. Maybe that was a previous incarnation…

In any case, a submerged level transmitter would not have a local display and I didn’t see a display in the field when I was there. The quoted Pulsar ultrasonic transmitter has a display/operator interface and is fascia mount meaning that it’s designed to be mounted into a cutout on a panel door. That would give you a local reading in the field independent of SCADA.

I do not have experience with Pulsar, but I talked to a colleague who has. He spoke favorably of them stating that they were easy to setup and that the transducers had powerful beams to help shoot through mist and foam.

As discussed, a third technology that is appropriate for this application is radar. As it happens I am getting quotes for radar transmitters for another project now and will let you know how that compares.

I look forward to hearing from Jason.

Thanks.
