I’ve redrafted Sections 3.4 and 3.5 of the Emergency Response Plan. Please review the text below and let me know if you have any comments or changes. Also, if you could fill in the highlighted information. Thanks.

3.4 Personnel Safety

Protecting the health and safety of everyone involved with the wastewater system as well as the surrounding community is a key priority during an emergency. Detailed personnel safety procedures are contained in the WWTP Safety Manual. A copy of this manual is to be kept on-site at all times in a location known to all wastewater system employees for reference. Currently, a copy of this manual is located in the filing room at the WWTP. For further reference, a binder containing the relevant MSDS’s is attached to the wall of the main building of the WWTP, just outside of the laboratory.

Employees at the WWTP must use Personal Protective Equipment when necessary to ensure their safety. Personal Protective Equipment is located throughout the WWTP, including goggles, masks, face shields, hearing protection, safety goggles, eyewash stations, and first aid kits. Staff has been instructed to notify the WWTP Operator immediately if they believe any additional items of Personal Protective Equipment need to be procured.

Should evacuation of the WWTP become necessary, the rendezvous point will be the Bear Creek bridge, just outside of the main gate of the WWTP.

3.5 Emergency Equipment

Proper use of emergency equipment can significantly reduce the impact of an emergency incident on human health and the environment. Table 3-5 lists equipment owned by the City and where it can be found, as well as equipment owned by neighboring utilities that could be accessed during an emergency.
