After thinking and internally discussing this letter a bit more, we think it is prudent to just entirely delete the sentence about whether there were negative impacts to Bear Creek. Attached is a revised clean version of the notification letter. Mark is working on editing Bill’s report and should be sending his thoughts to you all shortly on that.

Here is an edited draft of the letter, in clean and redline. Please send along that list of the 5-6 residences within 1 mile downstream when you have it. We think that you should visit each of those today and hand deliver the notice. We are still considering whether the City should do a broadcast letter to the larger group of 60-70 residences all the way downstream.

He’s the start of the letter. How far do we need to go? Tiffany is just asking for the Burley’s to be notified.
Spoke to Bill Fasth today and he found no issues with the Bear Creek samples. The E.coli was actually higher up stream (east of the AB) then down. We will receive a letter from him today confirming this.

The City is probably going to have to go door to door to make sure no one has been missed with the notification or the opportunity to have a well tested. This needs to be done consistently and with a written notification that you can leave with each of them. We can work with you on the wording of that notification.

Dear Nina and Joni,
Below is a link to a map that shows where an elderly couple, the Burley's, live just downstream on Bear Creek from the Molalla wastewater plant at 12304 Toliver Road, outside the city limits. I marked the location of their approx. 60 foot deep well. The Burley's told me this afternoon there has been to date NO NOTIFICATION to them about the Molalla raw sewage spill into Bear Creek. Is DEQ going to do anything about that? I would certainly think that any well this close to the plant and to Bear Creek should be checked or at the very least the City of Molalla should have notified them of the raw sewage that got in Bear Creek.
There are other residences just across Toliver Road that from the wasterwater plant that are also rural and likely have wells. They are on slightly higher ground but given the proximity to Bear Creek I would guess they also have shallow wells. Who is going to check that all these domestic wells aren't contaminated?
