Attached is the map with the way I tested the hydrants. There one is off of Ona Way/Molalla Forest. This is the one I took the static and residual pressures from. The other is at the rear Molalla RediMix’s property. This is the one I used for the Pitot reading. I hope that this helps.

Hi Mike,

Just a clarification on the flow test.

Did you test the hydrant on the 8” line at Sta. 7+19 or the hydrant on the 6” line at Sta. 10+00? I’m not certain that would make a difference since the 8” doesn’t continue west beyond the hydrant at staion 7+19.

Thanks for your help and I will forward on your comments.

Jennifer, Attached is the hydrant flow calculations for the hydrant that resides at the rear of Molalla Redi-Mix. The Other hydrant that was used in the test is off of the Molalla Forest road directly behind the Molalla Redi-Mix property. After reviewing the plans that you sent yesterday, my comments are as below.

1) The hydrant detail needs to reflect 4” stortz connections being added to the steamer port of the hydrant. Please add this note and re-submit.

2) The detail does not show impact protection. Please add impact protection detail and re-submit for review.

3) This will be a dead end hydrant line. It has been practice in the past not to allow dead end lines as it affects the flow rates if more than one hydrant has to be used. This line needs to be looped back in to the water system.

4) Will this be a private or public hydrant? If it is a private hydrant, provisions need to be made prior to installation to assure that repairs will be done in a timely manner if this hydrant becomes damaged. This has been an issue in the past with private hydrants.

5) The addition of this one hydrant does not meet the requirements of the Oregon Fire Code Appendix “D” for spacing in this complex. If any further development is done on this property, additional fire hydrants will required in order to bring this site in line with past and current codes.
