Hi Sarah,
While not explicitly stated in the specifications, the thickened sidewalk/curb around the tree well is intended to in the quantity for bid item No. 35 – Concrete Walks. Quantity for this area is included in the bid schedule under this item.
If desired, in lieu of the thickened sidewalk/curb shown, the Contractor can set and pour the tree grate frame directly into the sidewalk, then score the sidewalk at 6 inches. See attached photo for a recent installation in Molalla that used this method.
