Subject: Molalla Ave - today's questions

Jenn – here are our draft responses to today’s questions on Molalla Ave. I was thinking we could hold off until tomorrow morning to the post the Q&A, in the event more trickle in today.

· Will plumbing permits be required for the water meter connections and would the city of Molalla provide them for the project or will the contractor need to purchase them? Plumbing permits will be necessary when required by code. Contractor to obtain permits, as necessary. Jenn – is this consistent with the City’s practice, or do you waive the permits for this type of work? The City requires a Work in ROW permit for contractors, however since the work is being performed within the City’s contract, no permit is needed. If work is performed on private property, a plumbing permit thru the county must be obtained. However again this is a City project and in the past no plumbing permits were required to reconnect the meters to the customer side when relocated by the City or under the City contract. We would end up paying twice, once to the contractor to obtain the permit, then to the County for issuing it for a meter relocation.

· Will a plumber be required for the water meter connections? A licensed plumber will be required for work on the customer side of the meter, as required by code.

· Can I verify who provides the compaction testing? Contractor to perform all quality control testing per the ODOT MFTP, including compaction testing.

· What is extent of NWN relocations? See attached for NWN's current relocation plan (Jenn – I will plan to attached their plan). Per NWN's recent input, all gas relocation work will be completed by May 20, 2016.

· On bid item #52 – Repair Existing Irrigation, what can we base our assumption on? Should we assume everywhere that has landscape next to the sidewalk need the irrigation repaired? Please advise. The item is intended to be used at the new Bike Plaza location. See 01120.40 of the Special Provisions.
