Here is one quote for media replacement. He suggested we use a Vactor truck for removal and our own labor. In most cases the Filter would be down for 48 hours, so in that time we would run filter #3 and #4. I am still working on getting other quotes.

I spoke with you yesterday over the phone about possible media replacement and or a quote for testing the filter bed if recommended. We have ½ of a TR-840A Microfloc Water Treatment Plant 1400 gpm that was put online in 1998. The media has never been replaced, we do however add anthracite coal as needed. I placed a 5 gallon bucket under the filter drain as you described and we did collect some sand. We also get some sand in our effluent sample line daily. We had our reservoirs cleaned earlier this year and they cleaned some silica sand and high density sand from the reservoir. If you don’t think we need to do an inspection and if you recommend just going ahead with replacement please send me that recommendation so that I can forward it to my Director so that we can proceed with getting approval for rebidding the media.
