In regards to the attached questions,
1. Additional time will be needed to run calculations to determine an estimate of time needed to remove the existing quantities of solids.
2. Infiltration and Inflow is a challenge in the majority of all City’s today. Given the age of Molalla’s existing sanitary sewer infrastructure this is expected, however there are many options other than just replacing the sewer lines to address the issue and keep costs down. Currently, during heaving storm surges we see a spike in our inflows. We are currently working with Brown & Caldwell to identify where the largest impact areas to the system are and determine the best methods to reduce I & I.
3. See Ryan’s response in the attached email.
4. The recent spill in May does not affect Molalla’s ability to treat sewage. The actual spill duration was not 36 hours. The estimated spill duration by investigation was found to be 2.1 hours. DEQ was notified of the incident that same day and a 5-day report was submitted on time as well.
