Hi David, I will need to talk to Dennis about scheduling the work first. It may not be feasible for the crew to do the work until after the holidays when we have a full crew available.

Regards,

Jenn

Hi Jennifer,

It sounds like it would be a faster install if the City crew did the work.

Would it be possible to schedule for a mid week day (Wednesday or Thursday) since we will have to shut down while the work is being done?

Thanks and let me know what else I need to do to get the project going.

Hi David,

As it stands now, additional plumbing work to install a smaller meter needs to be done prior. This work is in addition to the standard meter connection fee of $600. This connection fee covers the price of the meter and the cost to the City to install it. Any work beyond that would be an added cost for time and materials. Depending on the time to make the plumbing changes, this could range anywhere between $500 to $1500.

If you would to hire a contractor to do the plumbing portion to install a smaller meter that is your option. The contractor would need to come into get a permit to work in the right-of-way before proceeding with the work. In addition, the old meter would need to be returned to the City before a new one can be installed. The new meter connection will still need to be done by the City, which is a $600 fee.

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

Hi Jennifer,

I'd like to revisit the plan to change our Laundromat water meter to a 1 1/2". Let me know what the status is on that since it has been several months since we spoke about it.

Also, would it be better for me to contact Molalla Plumbing to change the meter or does it need to be done by the City work crews.

Thanks

David

Hi David,

Sorry for the delay on a response. Dennis our Public Works foreman was out of the office until yesterday and he’s finalizing the parts list. In addition to the cost of the meter, there will be a cost for the parts need to connect the 1-1/2” meter to a 4” line. I will have a better quote for you once I get those updated costs from Dennis.

However, after reviewing the account with Peggy she was able to make adjustments to the unit rate for the sewer based on previous water consumption for the facility.

The billing base rate for water & sewer on your existing 3” meter will be as follows:

· Water - $129.25 per month

· Sewer - $172.83 per month

· Totaling - $302.08

Once the 1-1/2” meter is installed, your base rate will be as follows:

· Water – $37.11 per month

· Sewer - $172.83 per month*

· Totaling - $209.94

*If water consumption increases after opening, the sewer base will likely increase as well.

The City cannot discount any water meter rates until the new meter is installed. Doing so would violate the City Ordinance for water and sewer rates approved by council.

Hi Jennifer,

Id like to start our water service account as we plan to open by the end of the week.

May we start it based on the 1.5 meter size? Please let me know the details.

Thanks for your help,

David

Hi David,

Yes I have been doing some digging. I have a quote on the new meter, however it is about 3-4 weeks out for delivery. My off the cuff estimate is between $700-$800 to replace the meter. The meter itself is $500. I will have a better estimate for you once I have a few more questions answered.

As for the monthly base rate for the 1-1/2” meter versus 3”, I know Peggy was checking into the rates. She will be back in the office on Monday. Hopefully I will have answers for you Monday afternoon.

Thank you for your patience,

Jennifer Cline, P.E.

Hi Jennifer,

I'm wondering if you have the information regarding changing the meter to a 1 1/2" service at 501 E. Main?

I'd like to start my account as we need to open the business. May we start it with costs based on a 1 1/2" service and actually change the meter as soon as your crew is ready?

Thanks for your help.
