Anyone have an idea how I should respond to Mitch? I have no desire to sign up for a program. He is welcome to make a presentation to the Council only to have them say “work with Staff”. This program makes no sense and has no benefit to the City if we have to organize, train and supervise and be part of a trusted partner list. I thought they wanted to work on projects we had available that volunteers could perform. Just my thoughts.

You called me about some projects you had upcoming. That’s great. Some things I’d like you to bear in mind:
The Just Serve initiative is geared to provide volunteers who have ongoing needs and one time projects. It isn’t set up to provide guidance and/or leadership for those projects. The organizer should provide the materials and supervision necessary for the need.
We cannot guarantee volunteers; it’s totally up to those who’ve signed up to be volunteers. You yourselves can monitor how many have signed up after a project is posted on the website www.justserve.org
I’m ready to make a presentation to the City Council on the Just Serve program. It would be 20 minutes with a powerpoint presentation; then any questions about it would run longer. We are encouraging anyone who wants to become a volunteer to sign up now; and we’re building a list of “Trusted Partners” made up of organizations who’ll be able to post their own projects when they desire and need. The City could certainly be a member of that in the future.
If you’re willing to allow me to present at a City Council Meeting, let me know when please. I can present it to you ahead of time if you want. Thanks.
