Thanks Mike. We are looking adding a hydrant on Metzler with a water line replacement project. The current separation is more than 500 ft.

Standard residential spacing is every 500 feet so that no property frontage is more than 250 feet from a hydrant. If it is a dead end road, that distance is reduced by 100 feet. If the required flow is 2,000GPM or more that the spacing is decreased even more. I have attached a chart out of the 2014 Oregon Fire Code for your reference. Make sure you look at the footnotes below the chart. I’ve been caught off guard by these in the past. Let me know if you need anything further..

Hi Mike,
Quick questions. What is the standard spacing the Fire Department requires between hydrants?
Thanks,
