Hi Michael,

We will need to walk through a few steps in order to add a hydrant for the new building. Since this is developer driven, the impacts to do the work will be born on the property owner and not the City. Here is a simple breakdown of, but limited to, the steps we will need to take:

· Determine best location for the hydrant that meets fire code and City Standards.

· Fire Marshall to determine flows required.

· Prepare engineering drawings for the extension (provided by owner, approved by City)

· If on private property, Provide City and easement (recorded by owner once approved)

· Request a permit for work in the City right-of-way

· Hot tap City main and install Hydrant (work done by owners contractor)

I have also provide a copies of our relevant standard drawings to this work.

Hello Jennifer,

I'm helping to get information on the storage facility expansion at Stow Away Storage at 801 E Main St. Nick sent us a comment from the fire Marshal:

 

He was to install a hydrant on the East Main part of the complex and provide access off of Kimberly Ct. The access off of Kimberly Ct. he has already provided.

 

The fire marshal means Garden Court, not Kimberly Court, but can you tell me where the nearest hydrants actually are, and where we would access the water? Can we get a public hydrant?
