Subject: Molalla Ave. - JB and adjusted crossing

Importance: Normal

Hi Luanne,

We have an issue that arose on the Molalla Ave project in regards to the PGE Junction Boxes. The contractor originally submitted to our engineer a Synertech PGE approved JBs, which they believed was PGE approved. The electrical contractor was informed last Monday that this was an incorrect box PGE no longer uses, in which the contractor requested to continue to use the box. Today, over a week later, the PGE inspector informed our contractor that this box is not acceptable. However, in order to stay on schedule they have set the boxes.

It is my understanding the new boxes are wider at the bottom to allow for more room the box we have onsite. We are asking to continue with the current JBs included in the attached submittal. It looks like the PGE approved list was updated this March, in which was in the middle of the submittal process.

Additionally, the current crossing at Ross St will likely conflict with several pairs of COM line and vault. The contractor is proposing to adjust the crossing 10-15’ to the south. The contractor will be submitting an RFI for the design change, in which MSA and the City will coordinate this change with you.

Please give me a call if you have any questions.

Best Regards,
