Hi Ryan,

I believe we partnered with Canby Utility on this last year. Will you please check with them to see if the program was successful and do we want to participate once again?

I’ve included an email with Barabra’s contact information at Canby Utility.

Thanks,

Subject: Source Water Protection Grants

Good morning!

We just wanted to be sure that you knew of this opportunity:

OHA will be accepting Letters of Interest for drinking water source protection projects through Friday May 6, 2016. Public Water Systems can apply for up to $30,000 in grants (per system per year) to implement protection activities in their source area.

“Typical land use questions that can be addressed using the Source Water Assessments include [1] What land uses are located in the recharge area, [2] Is a particular land use up- gradient from the well or spring, [3] What is the vulnerability of the aquifer that supplies the community, [4] Where should the community locate a new well, [5] What is the direction of groundwater flow in the area, [6] Where is the source of our drinking water most sensitive to contamination, etc” (Dennis Nelson: OHA, 2002).

For more information see http://public.health.oregon.gov/HealthyEnvironments/DrinkingWater/SRF/Pages/spf.aspx. Information on eligible projects and the rating criteria are found in the document titled: DWSPF - General Information on Funding (pdf) which is towards the bottom of the page. Maps of drinking water source areas can be found on the DWP website at http://www.deq.state.or.us/wq/dwp/results.htm.

Best regards,

Priscilla
