Subject: Reminder to Participate in 2014 Municipal Tree Care and Management Project

Dear Jennifer:

We appreciate your consideration to date to participate in a national study of Municipal Tree Care and Management. If you just returned the questionnaire we sent through postal mail several weeks ago, we thank you. If you have been unable to complete the request and would like to participate, we can still include you in the project. We are about 90% of the way towards our target of 700 communities participating. Your participation is an important part of completing the national assessment of municipal forestry operations and updating the assessment last completed in 1993. If your schedule does not allow participation, we still personally thank you for your consideration.

As a reminder, your responses are confidential and will only be released as summarized information combined with all community responses. Summarized results will be available later this summer through a final report of this study. The report will detail budgets, salary information, management approaches, funding strategies, tree planting, tree removal, how maintenance occurs, tree inventories, ordinances, and many other factors important towards managing trees in communities.

If you have any final questions please contact me by phone (715-346-3642) or e-mail rhauer@uwsp.edu. If you still desire to complete the questionnaire, please return it by May 15, 2015 by inserting it in the self-addressed and stamped envelope and dropping it in the mail. Once again, we really appreciate your consideration to date to respond and thank you regardless if you can participate or are unable to respond.

Sincerely,
