Thank you for the comments. Attached is the comment log with responses and revised plan sheets C-3 and C-8. As extra insurance to make sure the counter slope is in ADA compliance at the SW corner, we revised the ramp elevations and moved the sawcut line further out from the curb.
The project has moved through the contractor bidding process and a contract Intent to Award letter has been issued. Construction may begin sometime in March.

We have gotten comments back from our Engineers and they are in the attached spreadsheet. Please make appropriate adjustments to the plans and resubmit for final review.
Below are comments from Larry Krettler. Please keep this in mind for the final plans. We will have to go out and do a final inspection and report once the construction is complete. If the construction is out of spec it will have to be removed and replaced. If there are any doubts, please correct them now. Thanks!
They give the slope of the road which is less than what they had previously. As far as design is concerned the construction will need to meet standards.

Hi Mike and Marlene,
Thank you for the email and follow-up phone call to discuss this curb ramp design. I’ve done some additional street counter-slope investigation and found that the situation is not nearly as unfavorable as it appeared. The 8.9% street counter-slope data originally provided was a worst-case, existing condition we managed to find in a direction more towards the center of the intersection. Upon taking a closer look and comparing proposed grades at the gutter line in front of the ramp with ground survey shots out in OR211, we are seeing counter-slopes which are less than 5%. Attached is an exhibit showing this result.
Also, please note that our current plans show hatching for 2 feet in front of the ramp specifying a maximum 4.5% slope in the hatched area. This hatching could be extended a little further into the street if it would help ODOT.
Please let us know if this resolves the counter-slope question or if we need further discussion.
