E-Bikes: Power Your Commute Thursday, November 12 (3:00 - 5:00 PM) Kell's Irish Pub, Downtown Portland, OR - Map E-bikes are increasingly popular in the United States, as more and more people discover the perks of cycling with an occasional boost of electric power. Our November event will look at how e-bikes have benefits for cyclists, their employers, and their communities. Our speaker will be John MacArthur, Research Associate at Portland State University's Transportation Research and Education Center (TREC), who specializes in urban mobility and cycling trends. John will share the preliminary findings of a recent pilot project he led in Oregon looking at the impact regularly riding an e-bike has on the user's view of biking and bike commuting. This project, conducted in partnership with Kaiser Permanente NW and Drive Oregon over the last year, was funded by a RTO grant via Metro. The results of John's research suggest e-bikes can play an important role in expanding bike commuting to more demographics and hint at key markets e-bike manufacturers should be targeting.
