At what level do we reach the mandatory water restrictions? To my understanding this limit has not been previously identified by the City. My thoughts would be before we violate our water rights (which is about 1.995 MGD). MGD = Million Gallons per Day

What happens when we exceed our water usage? If we exceed our current water rights to meet demand of the City would be in violation. What that means to the City? I honestly don’t know at this point without researching it further with Oregon Water Resources Department.

How do we enforce water restrictions? Here you go….

13.04.055 Restricted use of water.

A. The City Council may, by resolution, at such times as it deems appropriate, restrict the use of City water.

B. It is unlawful for anyone to use water in violation of the terms of a water restriction resolution duly imposed by the City Council. Violation of such restrictions may be punishable by a fine not exceeding $100.00 for each day of the violation. (Ord. 1988-1 §1)

Subject: Current Water Situation

Mayor and Council – We are approaching our water usage limitations. Record Molalla River low flows for this time of year from 1940 were 106 cfs. Today we are at 99cfs. We have not reached a point where we need to institute a mandatory water restriction but we will be getting conservation information out through our website, the Pioneer, Library and other avenues. For example we may begin to restrict the hours of the splash pad and reduce our irrigation of our parks. Some general conservation ideas could be the following:

· Shower timers

· Reduce lawn irrigation

· Only use a carwash

· Sweep your porch instead of using a pressure washer

· Brownest lawn award!

Let me or Jennifer Cline know if you have questions.
