Andy,

We have a Davis Vantage Pro weather station here at the WTP. We only use it for the 24-hour precipitation totals, but it does have wind direction and speed reading too. I have no information regarding calibration though.

Subject: Wind Gauges

Good Morning Folks! We are having trouble with DEQ approvals of the new recycled water use plan because they aren’t satisfied with the Cities’ approach to measuring wind speed and direction. Can you guys please help us be getting something together showing:

  1. 1. The exact equipment we have at both plants, or anything else we use, to determine windspeed/direction
  2. 2. Include makes/models where possible
  3. 3. Include any steps we take to calibrate this equipment (if ever)
  4. 4. Tell us how often we read these gauges and where/how they are recorded

Even with this information we may still need to begin verifying wind speed and direction on the ground using a handheld device in the field, but I won’t know until we can tell DEQ exactly what we are doing.

Thanks for the help with this!
