Importance: Normal

Gerald Jake was able to get Biolyceus set up, we can begin a treatment after biosolids removal this year if you like. Cost: $9500 for the first year. I’m thinking we should bounce our plan of Mike Pinney too, so that if something goes wrong we can say we were working with DEQ on it.

In the interest of fully disclosure: she claims in her final below that they have chemicals that can “probiotically dredge” fairly cheaply, which might reduce the need for so much hauling. However, between you guys and me, what she is saying makes me nervous. Any time in history someone came up with a “magic chemical” that can do something magic like “probiodically dredge” (make physical solids just disappear!) that chemical has turned out to be a disaster. I’m thinking about Tri-chloro-Ethelyn, and Chloroflourocarbons that were so wonderful, but ended up bankrupting so many companies who used them and then needed to clean up the disaster years later. Without knowing more about the chemicals and their long term environmental impacts I do not recommend this. Remember all that chemical, and their final reactants (which are???), will end up in the Molalla River.

Is the contract for dried tons?

We expect to see a reduction of 1-3” per month. We can Probiotically Dredge a lot of solids annually for less than 20k per year.

I can send you a few things tomorrow with third party testing and you can talk to Jason Green at OAWU who did sludge judging on a seriously impacted lake where he and his team wrote up the site case.

Bonanza was having issues with compliance and we got them working pretty efficiently. They continue to have great lagoons and even with changes in their town continue to work with us and really believe in who we are and how we continue to help support them in achieving their goals.

We’ve been in OR helping Treatment for over ten years, so there are quite a few great successes we have to document solids reduction.

I feel bad that the town would have to pay all that money on a service contract. That is a lot of money for your town.

I’ll send over some data tomorrow. Let me know if there is anything else we can do to help you and Jake.

Cheers!

We’ll have to do one in advance. I do have one, but we are about sign a contract to haul $½ million worth of sludge each year for the next 5 years. So we’ll have to take a sludge just in September, and another next June, and visually compare the results.

Great question.

A profile of the sludge by sludge judging will give you a benchmark of how your solids look before the product is put in. Over time you will see the anaerobic layer become less septic and black. You’ll see the layers of the solids become more light and fluffy. Both the density and the strays of the layers will change in color and density.

Do you have a current sludge judging to compare to your results?

Thanks Becky. I have one last question: what should we be measuring in order to know if the treatment is helpful? Should I be measuring a bacteria count of some kind? Or sludge judge levels?
