The faulty alarm did not notify us of the effluent pumps shutting down at approximately midnight. We have estimated that 15,620 gallons of fully treated effluent entered Bear Creek just west of the bridge at the Plant entrance. We believe this is an “upset” and the very dry conditions of Bear Creek have allowed the discharge to only travel about 200 feet west of the Plant. The attached letter is being hand delivered to property owners and residents 1 mile down-stream from the Wastewater Treatment Plant today. We have also posted this letter on our Website and Facebook. We do not know what caused the alarm failure at this point but should know in the next few days. Please let me know if you have questions.
