Subject: Molalla - pH and Temp monitoring plans.

Importance: Normal

Hi Jennifer. Thanks for sending the plans. We find them acceptable, as is. However, please consider that since pH probe tips are susceptible to fouling, even in “clean” river water, we recommend you install the equipment after the screens at the headworks. Also, we recommend you perform a “dry run”, or pilot test, and see how well it performs in a temporary location, before you install it permanently.

Subject: Molalla - pH and Temp monitoring requirements.

Hi David,

Attached are 70% design plans for the following pH and river temp monitoring locations to meet the current NPDES Permit #101514, Schedule D, 11. Minimum Reporting Requirements, Table B13: Reporting Requirements and Due Dates for Table B1: Influent Monitoring (Row 4), Table B2: Effluent Monitoring (Row 6), Table B3: Ambient Monitoring (Row 2) on Pages 9-11 of 32.

1. pH sensor for Influent Monitoring (Row 4) located at the WWTP in the Headworks channel

2. Temp Sensor for Ambient Monitoring (Row 2) at the WTP Intake Pump Station adjacent to Molalla River

3. pH sensor for Effluent Monitoring (Row 6) located at the DMS adjacent to Molalla River

Please concur the above locations and systems to be installed are acceptable by DEQ to satisfy the requirements outlined in the NPDES Permit #101514.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Cline, P.E.
